Immunization Status

What are Immunization:

Immunization means making the individual immune to disease. Antibodies, thus produced in the individual, fight the disease producing organisms. As each organism is different from other, we have to give different vaccines - each specific for the disease we want to prevent.

What is the Immunization Schedule:

The following schedule is currently followed :-

8 months Measles + Hb and Retic.count
15 months MMR (Measles Mumps Rubella), Hib
18 months Booster DPT and POLIO
3 years POLIO+Urine R/M and C/S (Spont.Voided)
4 years DPT and POLIO+Hb and Retic.count
5 years POLIO every year upto 15 years
10 years T d Booster+ MMR Booster Hb and Retic.count
15 years T d Booster

Typhoid 

Primary 1 injections or oral booster 3 yearly

NOTE: MGC / Chicken Pox / Hepatitis A : As advised by physician

What if there is a break in Schedule:

A break in the recommended Schedule is not an indication to start the series afresh, regardless of the length of the break.

Is Small Pox Vaccination necessary:

According to the World Health Organization, Small Pox has been eradicated from the world. Though surveillance procedures and selective immunization are continuing routine Small Pox vaccination is no longer recommended.
